Looking for Chinese recipes with pork?
Cue the overwhelm and panic. While there’s no doubt plenty of excellent Chinese beef recipes and Chinese chicken recipes out there, we would say pork is the most versatile meat found in Chinese cuisine, with an endless parade of unique preparation methods and flavors to choose from.
Whether steamed, fried, roasted, or boiled in soup, Chinese cooks have been finding delicious ways to cook pork for centuries… making use of everything from bones to innards.
… but in this post, we’ll keep things simple.
From beloved favourites like Char Siu (BBQ Pork) to Steamed Black Bean Spare Ribs with Rice, in this post, we’ll share our favorite Chinese recipes which include pork as the main star. Enjoy!
Easy and Delicious Air Fryer Char Siu (BBQ Pork)
Of all the delicious ways you can prepare pork in Chinese cooking, Char Siu (BBQ Pork) is one of my personal favourites.
Consisting of mouthwatering pork that is roasted to perfection in a marinade that’s at once salty, sweet, and sticky, this delicious creation usually takes hours and hours to prepare… Luckily, Papa G found a great shortcut that uses an air fryer.

Crispy Restaurant-Style Sweet and Sour Pork
Another classic Chinese recipe for pork is Sweet and Sour Pork, a Westernized takeout classic that is (possibly) one of the most beloved Chinese food items of all time.
Consisting of crispy, deep-fried pork and juicy vegetables/fruit tossed with an addictive sweet yet tangy sauce, you won’t believe how easy it actually is to make this dish for yourself at home.

Dim Sum Style Black Bean Sparerib Clay Pot Rice
Another delicious Chinese pork dish is the almighty Black Bean Sparerib – often steamed with rice to create an aromatic one pot meal. It’s a popular mainstay of Dim Sum tables, and is considered one of the most amazing comfort foods that Cantonese cuisine has to offer.
Consisting of tender pork ribs on top a bed of rice, this simple dish is wonderfully nourishing, and you won’t believe how simple it is to prepare at home.

BONUS: Easy, Spicy & Saucy Mapo Tofu
Lastly, while we will concede that Mapo Tofu is indeed more of a Tofu dish than a pork dish, there’s no ignoring that ground pork is a key (delicious) ingredient… so that’s why we decided to still include it on this list of Chinese recipes with pork.
This Sichuan classic is the perfect dish to have with rice, combining silky tofu and succulent pork, thrown together in a tongue-numbing sauce packed with spice. If you’re looking for a crowd pleaser that will make everyone sweat and drool in equal measure, then be sure to give this recipe a try!
